Laverstock & Ford 0 QK Southampton 7 (Russell-Cotes Cup)

QK responded well to Saturday's miserable performance to complete a breathtaking seven goal win at Wessex Premier outfit Laverstock & Ford.

It was clear from the start that QK were 'up for the task' and they took an 11th minute lead when Andrew Wood's right-wing corner was cleared into the path of DANIEL SILLENCE who smashed home a firm shot from 18 yards.  QK created further opportunities but Michael Nailor's effort was saved by home keeper Nick Safe whilst Ben Penfold and Martyn Randall both had efforts that went just wide.  QK were awarded a penalty right on half-time when Nailor was tripped by Safe and PENFOLD dispatched the penalty firmly into the corner of the net to put QK into a 2-0 half-time lead.

QK took complete control of the second half.  They added a third when following a great flowing move down the right, the ball was crossed into the path of ADAM BECKETT who fired home from 20 yards.  A 3-0 lead after 57 minutes became four when Penfold unselfishly squared the ball across to NAILOR who netted a deserved goal.  Number five followed on 70 minutes when Randall crossed from the left and NAILOR got the final touch at the back post.  The goals didn't stop there as number six went in, a header from DAN PANCALDI  from a Randall corner.  The seventh and final QK goal came when Daniel Smith fed Randall who again supplied the cross to enable PENFOLD to apply the finish at the far post.

 They say that 'every dog has its day' but for QK this was the local park, Southampton Common and a first at Crufts all rolled into one!!  It was a great evening and the players, management and committee right down to this humble reporter can now look forward to a quarter final tie ... bring it on!!  Finally, Laverstock & Ford's hospitality was absolutely first class - thank you.
