CLUB HISTORY
The History Of QK Southampton Fc (31/08/08)

Established in 1972, Queens Keep Football Club began life as part of the sports and social club for the Inland Revenue Department based in Southampton.

Starting in the Southampton Junior League, Queens Keep FC experienced many successful seasons resulting in their steady climb up through the league structure, when in 1987 we were finally promoted into the Southampton Senior League.

Again successful seasons in the Southampton Senior League resulted in Queens Keep FC being promoted in 1996 into the Hampshire League.

In 2000 QK Southampton FC replaced the Queens Keep FC name. Around this time also, our historical home in Shirley; The Civil Service Club was closed down. Removing basic support of ground staff and equipment and the loss of our pitch.

Not looking backwards, QK Southampton FC has now relocated to Lordshill Recreation Centre, securing a 25-year lease with the council for exclusive rights to a private football pitch, with planning permission for dugouts, railings, a stand, hard standing and floodlights as a minimum.

The dugouts, railings and hard standing are now in place.

Further amalgamations and restructuring of local leagues saw QK Southampton placed in the Senior Division of the Hampshire Premier League. This league is within the national football pyramid and fees into the local regional league, The Wessex League.
With the security of now having a home to call our own again, QK Southampton FC are now planning and building for the future as an independent sports club, which will offer a full range of football opportunity to the community.

We now have a youth section (u9s, 3x u13s, u14s ,u15s, u16, and u18s), a reserve and third team, along with a veteran’s.

To support the growth of the club and to enable it to integrate fully into the community, we are now looking for local industry to support our ambition.

We are asking for people to become part of what is an exciting opportunity to rebuild and develop a successful sports club.

There is a continuing project to develop our pitch and ground at Lordshill Recreation Centre. This is to create a football pitch that has facilities which will provide a pitch that meets a higher standard than that already in place and offer the local community use of such a facility.

We have achieved a lease on the site for 25 years and have installed, an all-metal surround, hard standing, dug outs. Planning permission has been obtained for stands and floodlights.

This project which we started four years ago is now really taking off after a lot of hard work by all concerned. This next level of the project is to start putting in place the ability to connect up to mains supply and replace outdated equipment.
